Diamond Eternity Ring
To quote the lines of a famous song written for a James Bond film and sung by Miss Shirley Bassey “Diamonds are Forever”: and diamond eternity rings can be beautifully described in the words "My love will not run out as the circle leads to eternity and will never have an end".
Traditionally an eternity ring is placed on the third finger of the left hand between the engagement and wedding ring where it is believed to connect to a main artery (veina amoris) which leads directly to the wearer’s heart.
Many couples choose to mark their first anniversary or birth of their first child by the giving of an eternity ring. But there comes a time in most people’s lives when the time is right for the giving of such a token of affection. For some women a diamond eternity ring is a “must have” from an emotional point of view, while others regard it as a beautiful piece of fashion diamond jewellery.
Eternity rings come a variety of settings including claw, channel, pave and bezel or rub over. Traditionally the four or six prong claw mounts show off the diamonds to their best effect, allowing the maximum amount of light to refract through the stone creating some fabulous sparkle and dazzle. Claw or prong set diamond rings are also easy to clean as you can use a soft brush and some warm soapy water and get to the back of the gemstone as well as the part on display.
The other settings hold the stones very securely, and channel and pave set gemstones give the appearance of a solid band of diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds or whatever other gemstones you choose – again causing the light to hit your finger and sparkle. Rub over and bezel mounts are when the precious metal snugly surrounds the surface of the stones, and can often make the diamonds in the eternity ring appear larger than they actually are. If you are planning to wear your eternity ring on a daily basis these settings are very durable and it is very difficult to chip or damage the gemstones when they are set in this way.
